Wiebe van der Laan

Wiebe has spent 20 years in corporate finance, financial services and assurance, with a specialist focus on agriculture, food processing and manufacturing. He led the Corporate Finance division at PwC in Cape Town as Partner and Director, and served as the firm's national agriculture sector lead — responsible for buy-side, sell-side and capital raising mandates, negotiation support, transaction structuring, and taking transactions through to completion. Before that he spent six years at Stonehage Fleming, the international family office, where he was instrumental in establishing the firm's Corporate Finance division in South Africa and ultimately served as Director and Head of Corporate Finance. There he advised internationally wealthy families on private equity execution, restructuring, valuations and the strategy of family-owned investment entities, with client structures ranging from US$50m to over US$500m in net asset value. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor at PwC in the financial services and banking divisions, and holds HonsBAcc and BAcc degrees from Stellenbosch University. He has completed the JSE Sponsor Development Programme (with distinction) and a leadership programme at Cambridge Judge Business School.
